Casinos are often associated with classic card games, like poker and <a href="https://remycasino.com/tag/blackjack/”>blackjack, or iconic fruit machines. Yet, these <a href="https://remycasino.com/tag/gambling/”>gambling venues offer a diverse range of options, from scratch cards and bingo to interactive game shows and futuristic virtual games. Online casinos add to this diversity, providing access to many niche games, including themed variants and traditional titles from across the globe. With hundreds of options, it’s challenging to navigate this intricate landscape and find the best bets. This guide explores the most common casino games and offers insight into their rules, strategies, and tips.

Classic Casino Games: Cards and Tables
Card and table games are mainstays of gambling venues, whether land-based or online. These games have been around for centuries and are loved for their suspense, social aspects, and potential for strategic play. The following are some of the most popular classic casino games.

<a href="https://remycasino.com/tag/roulette/”>Roulette
Roulette is one of the most recognizable casino games, showcased in pop culture classics like James Bond’s “Quantum of Solace.” This game consists of a horizontal wheel with pockets running along its inner edge. A ball is spun in the opposite direction, bouncing around until it eventually comes to rest in one of the numbered pockets. Players predict where the ball will land by placing bets on a table layout that corresponds with the wheel.

There are two main variants of the game, European Roulette, and American Roulette. The latter features an additional pocket with an initial 0, which shifts the odds in favor of the house. The payout probabilities for both variants are listed below:

Bet Name| European Odds| American Odds
—|—|—
Straight Up| 2.70| 2.63
Split| 5.00| 5.00
Street| 11.00| 11.00
Corner| 8.00| 8.00
Line| 5.00| 5.00
Column| 2.70| 2.70
Dozen| 2.70| 2.70
Red/Black, Odd/Even| 1.35| 1.35
High/Low| 1.35| 1.35

Despite the absence of strategic play, roulette provides a range of exciting bets, quick turns, and the potential for big payouts.

Poker
Poker is a family of card games that center around hand rankings and wagering. Each round, players stake a bet, and the best hand wins according to the chosen variant’s rules. Popular casino poker variations include Three-Card Poker and Texas Hold’Em. The latter is the cornerstone of the World Series of Poker, one of the biggest poker tournaments globally.

Poker has a reputation for being a game of skill, and while there is some truth to this, it isn’t the whole picture. Luck also plays a key role, especially in variants with community cards that are dealt face up. With these, players can form the strongest hand regardless of their hole cards. The following list illustrates the hierarchy of poker hands, from the strongest to the weakest:

Royal Flush| A straight flush consisting of an Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 of the same suit. This is sometimes called a natural royal flush, and it is the highest natural hand.
—|—|—
Straight Flush| Any five cards of sequential values, all in the same suit.
Four of a Kind| Four cards of the same rank. If two players share this rank, the fifth card, known as the kicker, determines the winner.
Full House| Three cards of the same rank and two cards of another identical rank.
Flush| Any five cards of the same suit, not in sequential order. If two players share the highest card, the second-highest card, known as the kicker, decides the winner.
Straight| Five cards of sequential values, not in the same suit. Like a straight flush, if two players share the highest card, the second-highest card resolves the tie.
Three of a Kind| Three cards of the same rank. If two players share this rank, the fifth card acts as the kicker.
Two Pair| Two different sets of two cards of the same rank. If two players share this rank, the kicker decides.
One Pair| Two cards of the same rank. In the event of a tie, the third-highest, fourth-highest, and so on decide.
High Card| When none of the above combinations are in play, the highest card in the hand determines the winner.

Unlike blackjack or roulette, the house edge in poker depends on the players’ skill and how well they comprehend the game’s mechanics and possible strategies.

Blackjack
Blackjack, also known as twenty-one, is a tabletop game where players aim to beat the dealer. The game’s objective is to score a hand whose value is 21 or as close to it as possible without going over. Blackjack is a testament to the importance of luck and strategy in casino gaming. Players can dramatically increase their chances of winning by learning blackjack strategy, including understanding the game’s rules and betting intricacies.

The value of a blackjack hand is determined by the face value of the cards. Numbered cards are worth their face value, face cards are worth 10, and Aces are worth 11 or 1, depending on the player’s choice. Here is a breakdown of the steps involved in playing blackjack:

1. Bet: Each player places a bet, and the dealer distributes two cards face up to each player and two cards face down to themselves.
2. Analyze Cards: Calculate the hand’s value by adding the values of the cards. Aces can be worth 11 or 1, depending on which value prevents the hand from exceeding 21. Face cards (King, Queen, Jack) are worth 10 points each.
3. Hit or Stand: Based on the player’s analysis, they can choose to hit, stand, double down, or split. Here is a definition of these actions:
• Hit: Ask for another card, with the goal of getting as close to 21 as possible without going over.
• Stand: Stick with the current cards and stop drawing.
• Double Down: Increase the initial bet by up to 100% and receive one additional card.
• Split: When players have two identical cards, they can split them into two hands and place an equal bet on each. The dealer splits the cards, and the player continues clockwise, drawing cards for each hand.
4. Dealer’s Turn: After all players have finished, the dealer reveals their down card and draws more cards until the hand’s value is 17 or more. The dealer has to draw if the total is 16 or less and must stand on a soft 17 (a hand where the Ace is counted as 11). In some cases, the dealer’s play is predetermined, such as always hitting 16 or less.
5. Payout: If the player’s hand beats the dealer’s, bets are paid out at 1:1. If the player’s hand is closer to 21, they receive a higher payout, typically 3:2. Hands that exceed 21 lose, and the dealer collects the bet.

Casino Slots
Slots are the staple of both land-based and virtual casinos, with the latter offering hundreds of variations of these iconic games. These come in a variety of themes, from Ancient Egypt and Irish Luck to movie and TV show franchises, making for endless options for players. Yet, beneath their flashy visuals, casino slots share fundamental mechanics that remain largely unchanged.

Slots are games of chance, meaning winning is down to luck, and no strategy can increase or decrease the odds of landing a winning combination. These games consist of vertical reels containing symbols, which are varied according to the theme. Players set their bet, spin the reels, and win prizes based on identical symbols lining up on paylines. The winnings are proportional to the bet and the symbol’s value, with the latter determined by a random number generator (RNG). In virtually all slots, the RNG ensures the games are fair and unpredictable.

The diversity of casino slots is showcased in their layouts, which can include three or five reels, and in their features, such as scatter and wild symbols. Scatter symbols boost winnings and are often key to unlocking free spins or bonus rounds. Wild symbols can stand in for other symbols to help create winning combinations.

Other Classic Casino Games
Casino games also include bingo, keno, and scratch cards. Bingo involves marking off numbers on a ticket as they are randomly selected. The winner is the player who marks off all the numbers first. Bingo is often a social game, with players in a casino or online chat room competing against one another. Keno is another numbers game, where players predict figures between 1 and 80 and wait for the outcome. The selected numbers are displayed on screens in land-based casinos or on users’ screens in online casinos. Winning keno tickets are those that correctly predict a percentage of numbers drawn.

Scratch cards are cards with symbols hidden by an opaque layer, to be scratched off to reveal a winning combination. The prizes are immediately awarded, and the winner is paid out accordingly.

Modern Casino Games: Tables and Wheels
Modern casino games are designed to attract millennials and Gen Z players, who demand immersive, interactive experiences. The presentation and atmosphere of these games mimic video games, incorporating lively animations and soundtracks. Yet, their core mechanics often revolve around timeless classics, such as roulette and poker. Young players are presented with a range of options, from interactive online games to land-based arcade-style titles. The following are some of the most popular modern casino games.

Lightning Roulette
Lightning Roulette is a modern take on roulette developed by Evolution Gaming, a world leader in the Live Casino industry.
